Merge meets Tuesday nights

(school years 11-13)

Merge is a Tuesday night youth programme for people in years 11-13, with the main aim of bringing young people together to have fun, build relationships and explore various aspects of life and faith.

The leaders in Merge are passionate about coming alongside youth within this age group to build relationships and support them as they journey through one of the most exciting and challenging times in their life. We like to tackle all the big issues for youth, whether they’ve grown up in the church, or they’re just curious to explore faith, spirituality or Christian world views and concepts. We are always excited to have new faces join us and we would love to see you there!!

Please feel free to contact me at any time if you would like any information about Merge or if you simply want to have a chat.

I look forward to having the opportunity to get to know you this year and to support you in your journey.

Young Adults (18 – 25 year olds)

clayton_riddleSo what is Young  Adults about?

In a word: RELATIONSHIPS.

God is a God of love and what He treasures above all else is relationships.

So what Young  Adults set as our number one priority is connecting in the three most important relationships we all have:

  1. Connecting to God
  2. Connecting to one another
  3. Connecting to people beyond the church

Young Adults is a thriving ministry of 18-25ish year olds who have a ton of fun together while we seriously seek God and His plan for our lives.

Young Adult Activities

Small Groups

Small groups are at the heart of Young Adults at BBC.  Why?  Because significant life transformation happens primarily in the context of small groups.  Joining a small group will give you the opportunity to develop relationships at a deeper level, learn about God and discover how to integrate faith and real life … plus we have a lot of FUN!!  No matter where you are coming from or what you are about there will be a group of people willing to share the journey of life with you.

When and Where: Small groups meet on a variety of nights and there is even an early morning one.  Most meet in homes where a warm welcome is always given.  A small group is usually made up of 6-15 people.

Social Activities

Social activities are held throughout the year for Young Adults.  Activities will be advertised through small groups and in the Bulletin.

Young Adult Seminars

Young Adult seminars and short courses are held periodically throughout the year.  We try to equip you in your faith and life to be all that God has created you to be.  It’s a great way to connect with others and be equipped to serve.

Sunday Night Services

As you enter our Sunday night service at 6.30pm, you’ll find real people who know that we are all on a spiritual journey, and who are willing to walk the road together.  After the service we catch up and get to know one another better over supper.

Of course you’re always very welcome to attend the Saturday evening (5pm) and Sunday morning services (8:45 or 10:30am) but it’s on Sunday nights we’ve tried to make the service specially targeted for the needs of Young Adults and it’s here that you’ll find most people our age.

Our Friday night program called “Epic” runs from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.  Epic includes lots of games, talks, a youth band and supper and is a great night to bring friends along.   Download this term’s program.

On Sunday morning during the 10.30am service we run a small group called ‘Deeper’.  Our small groups come together to discuss and learn together from the Bible … sounds deep?  That’s why we call it ‘Deeper’.  It’s not just about growing closer to God, it’s also growing to know each other.  We also share breakfast together once a month and generally have a great time.

For more information about these activities, fill in the online connect card or give me a call (Clayton) on  02 6254 6565.

Worship and Music Ministries (WAMM)

paul_rogersHebrews 13:15-16  – Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name.  And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Greetings!  My name is Paul Rogers.  The Worship and Music Ministry of BBC is a platform for our talents, abilities, and gifting to be used by God to impact the lives around us.

Currently, we are a team artists and technicians that are responsible for the elements of musical leadership, dramatic presentations, and technical aspects for each of the Worship Services at BBC.  Our main goal is to be obedient to God’s leadership as He works with/through us to communicate who He is through our abilities and passion to serve in spirit and in truth.

Come experience God with us as we utilize our gifts to create an atmosphere of celebration, anticipation, and reverence for His glory to be shared.  The WAMM team is always excited about meeting people from different places and experiencing God in new ways.

Current WAMM fields of ministry:  Musical (vocal and instrumental), Drama, Technical (audio, video, lighting, IT, etc.) Photography, and WAMM Administration.

Men’s Activities

Hi I’m Gordon, servant leader for the BBC Men’s Ministry.

During 2010 we are endeavoring to become “Men of Courage” who know the truth of God’s Word and live within the truth.  The Lord spoke to Joshua (1:6-9) and said three times to be strong and courageous and to study the book of instruction and not to deviate from it.  We will address issues such as moral courage; spiritual courage; leadership courage; discipleship courage; tender courage and financial courage.

Throughout the year we will run a series of activities including bible studies; outdoor activities, sheds, breakfasts, a weekend retreat and a father and son camp.  We will also run the Careforce Lifekeys Courses Man to Man and Valiant Man to help men understand themselves and to be set free from addictions.  To find out more download the Men of Courage brochure.

“I am a creature of the day.  I am a spirit come from God, and returning to God.  I want to know one thing: the way to heaven.  God himself has condescended to teach me the way.  He has written it down in a book.  Oh, give me that book!  At any price give me the book of God.  Let me be a man of one book.” — John Wesley

Women’s Activities

Hi, I’m Sally Burton the servant leader for Women’s Ministries.  The women’s ministry vision is to see women’s lives centred in Christ, so that they are set free to be a Godly influence, where ever God has placed them.

We believe that this is possible through the work of the Holy Spirit, the truth of God’s Word and being in connection with one another.

Women’s ministry at Belconnen Baptist is not just about events and activities but it is about providing connection points along our life and faith journey.  Our desire is that these connection points will be a catalyst for authentic relationships with one another that will bring encouragement and accountability as we face the realities of life while gaining strength from Jesus Christ.

We connect with women through:

  • Newsletters – A regular newsletter is produced to bring encouragement, testimonies and information about women’s initiatives.
  • Town Centre lunches – Once a month women from the Belconnen area meet at Myers in Belconnen Mall for a catch up and fellowship.
  • ‘Bloom where you are planted’ Prayer breakfasts – Every six weeks or so, we meet for a light breakfast and time to pray for the women of BBC and the community.  Each breakfast has a different theme offering women involved in different areas of work or facing particular issues to come and share and receive prayer.  Themes include aged care, parents of teenagers, teachers and schools, Christians experiencing persecution and supporting our missionaries.
  • Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner – This year we have started ‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner’ evenings targeted to younger women, particularly those who may have moved to Canberra to study or work.  The vision is to provide an opportunity for women to connect with one another and meet new faces in a more intimate setting.
  • ‘Her Time’ Retreat - A yearly retreat where women are challenged through guest speakers about their walk and relationship with God.

For information on women’s events that are coming up soon – go to the Event Calendar.
