Young Adults (18 – 25 year olds)

clayton_riddleSo what is Young  Adults about?

In a word: RELATIONSHIPS.

God is a God of love and what He treasures above all else is relationships.

So what Young  Adults set as our number one priority is connecting in the three most important relationships we all have:

  1. Connecting to God
  2. Connecting to one another
  3. Connecting to people beyond the church

Young Adults is a thriving ministry of 18-25ish year olds who have a ton of fun together while we seriously seek God and His plan for our lives.

Young Adult Activities

Small Groups

Small groups are at the heart of Young Adults at BBC.  Why?  Because significant life transformation happens primarily in the context of small groups.  Joining a small group will give you the opportunity to develop relationships at a deeper level, learn about God and discover how to integrate faith and real life … plus we have a lot of FUN!!  No matter where you are coming from or what you are about there will be a group of people willing to share the journey of life with you.

When and Where: Small groups meet on a variety of nights and there is even an early morning one.  Most meet in homes where a warm welcome is always given.  A small group is usually made up of 6-15 people.

Social Activities

Social activities are held throughout the year for Young Adults.  Activities will be advertised through small groups and in the Bulletin.

Young Adult Seminars

Young Adult seminars and short courses are held periodically throughout the year.  We try to equip you in your faith and life to be all that God has created you to be.  It’s a great way to connect with others and be equipped to serve.

Sunday Night Services

As you enter our Sunday night service at 6.30pm, you’ll find real people who know that we are all on a spiritual journey, and who are willing to walk the road together.  After the service we catch up and get to know one another better over supper.

Of course you’re always very welcome to attend the Saturday evening (5pm) and Sunday morning services (8:45 or 10:30am) but it’s on Sunday nights we’ve tried to make the service specially targeted for the needs of Young Adults and it’s here that you’ll find most people our age.

Hi I’m Gordon, servant leader for the BBC Men’s Ministry.  Our theme this year is “Men: Doing Faith Together” in tune with the BBC theme “Lord increase our Faith”

gordon_cooper

During 2011 we will endeavor to identify ways and build upon the ways men naturally spent time together; for these times to include an element of faith building.  Whether it be through growth groups, camping, bike riding, computer games, coffee, music, sheds, board games, bible studies, conferences, breakfasts, retreats, bushwalks, model trains, tool swaps or any other activity that brings us together.

Some activities already locked in are the Men’s Retreat 19-21 Aug at Galong.  Rick Lewis, Pastor, Author of “Mentoring Matters” wood worker, wine collector, husband and father of three adult sons is our speaker.  He will be taking us through the journey of Timothy’s life.

Just 4 nights together to listen to the 4 talks from the recent Katoomba Christian Convention.  The theme was Temptation and the 4 talks titled: Groundhog day; Sex in the city; The pride of your heart has deceived you; From nude to shrewd. These are men’s talks 4 those who want to hear clearly what God desires 4 His men from His Word.  13th Jul – 3rd Aug 7:30pm Community Centre.

Senior’s Activities

dean_wishartBelconnen Baptist Church has several activities for senior people.

  • Grandparents Prayer Morning – Grandparents play a special part in the life of their grandchildren.  Often they care for their grandchildren while the parents are at work.  Grandparents prayer morning allows grandparents to connect  and share in the journey of helping their grandchildren, and in seeking God’s wisdom on how they can best support their children and grandchildren.
  • Aged Care – Our aim for this ministry is to forge links between a local Nursing Home and our Church community through contact, worship, fellowship and care.  We conduct services on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 2 pm and the 5th Sunday of the month at 11 am.
  • YAHOOs (Young At Heart Or Older) – This is an an informal group where the senior members of our church family and community can come together for friendship, fellowship and outings.  YAHOOs are BBC people (and their friends and contacts) d’un certain âge (as the French say) who would like to engage in informal social activities with people in the same (broad) age category.  What age group are we talking about here?  Well, the lower end of the scale is very flexible, and there is definitely no age barrier at the upper end of the scale.  Arthritis is not a prerequisite and Seniors cards are optional. The name of the group is an indication of the kind of people who may want to become members.
